You’re so right about homeowners not going for something like the violet built-ins. They add instant character – why are we afraid to step outside of our home decor boxes?! I live in NC right now, and whenever I nanny for folks I definitely check out their decorating choices. Lots of gilded frames, paisley and wicker. I appreciate the funk here for real.

I LOVE the violet color scheme as well but I’m always afraid to bring in more “feminine” colors into my home because I don’t want it to look like just a girl lives there (I live with my boyfriend). Any tips for finding the balance?

I’ve tried to do a more industrial version of the shabby chic look that I love so that it doesn’t seem so gender exclusive.

The guys are usually really happy with a masculine paint color like Gray, black and Navy. It works wonders.
Also things that are less curvy and straight are great for guys. Such as table legs, etc. In your home, believe it our not you are almost there!
      Paint- are you allowed to?
      Wallpaper – even better
Drapes – they should be thicker – Ikea has great options here, for your big window I would say at least 2 pr.
We need a large scale art piece behind the sofa
Area Rug – a large one is needed underfoot. It looks like at least an 8×10

      I hope this helps

I love the purple colors and the wallpaper up the stairs is awesome! Each room looks so cozy. Definitely gave me some inspiration for my own place 🙂

I love the design specially the purple ones… The combination of color you use, it’s warm, simple, and lovely. This gives me more ideas about home design. 🙂
